Our professional guide will collect you from your Cradle Mountain accommodation or the National Park Visitor Centre. We commence our fully guided tour into the National Park during which time our guide will give an informative commentary covering the history, geology, flora, and fauna of the region.
On arrival at Dove Lake there will be chance to capture the spectacular and iconic views of Cradle Mountain. At times, the mountain may be shrouded in cloud, but this still offers the incredible scenery of Dove Lake and the historic Boat Shed. The time spent at Dove Lake allows for a short 20-minute walk and multiple photos opportunities.
We then take a short drive to Waldheim Chalet, the first accommodation in the area and home to Gustav and Kate Weindorfer. The original chalet was built by them in 1912 but what stands today is a full replica built in the 1970’s by similar techniques using local King Billy pine.
We then enjoy a short 15-minute walk through a cool temperate rain forest and be amazed by story of the King Billy Pines in Weindorfers Forest. Our guides will highlight the different tree and plant species, you may even see some of the local wildlife.
Finally, we take a walk on the short Pencil Pine Falls loop track, walking amongst giant Myrtle and Pencil Pine trees en-route to the stunning Pencil Pine Falls.
At the conclusion of this interactive and interesting tour we return to your hotel or other designated drop off drop off point.
McDermott’s Coaches are a shining example of the way Tasmania’s tourism industry should operate. They understand their product, their industry and their customers and consistently deliver the highest level of service.
When it comes to professionalism,... When it comes to professionalism, guest care and quality of vehicles, it would be hard to beat McDermott's anywhere in Australia. They were the official ground transporter for the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, bringing guests from multiple locations to the site of the event on time and in comfort. For any conference organiser managing an event in Tasmania or abroad, make sure you consider McDermott's. Superb.

A great opportunity to spend some quality time exploring the highlights of Huon Valley and Bruny Island. There is much to see and do, 3 days will not do it the justice it deserves, but it will give us an opportunity to get a good taste of the region. The Huon Valley has much to offer – just 30 minutes from Hobart it is a world away. We pop into visit the Wooden Boat Centre, explore a local cidery, visit the retail site of Margate Train and tour Tasmania’s largest landscaped native garden – at Inverawe gardens. A day will be dedicated to Bruny Island – we take a tour of the island with a local step on guide and explore the highlights as well as some of the lesser known spots also. The last day of the tour will see us make the most of our time in the south of the state and pop in to visit other exciting nearby attractions. This tour was requested! We expect it to book out quickly.
