This sustainable mode of transport is a first to be introduced in any National Park in Australia. The hybrid buses travel predominately in silent mode and all buses have been fitted with large windows to ensure maximum viewing on the journey into one of Tasmania’s most iconic National Parks.
The Shuttle Bus Service was introduced to protect the important values of the World Heritage Area by limiting vehicle numbers in the park.

The Shuttle Bus Service operates on a regular schedule from the Cradle Mt Visitors Centre into Dove Lake and returns all year round however operating hours and frequency will vary depending on the time of the year.
Private vehicle access is not permitted between the Visitor Centre and Dove Lake during Shuttle Bus operating hours.
The cost of the Cradle Discoverer Shuttle service is included in the National Park Fee.
