Take a scenic dri­ve to Woolmers Estate and be reward­ed with world-class qual­i­ty cham­ber music. Our series of inti­mate con­certs in this pic­turesque her­itage venue is fast becom­ing a tra­di­tion for Tasmania’s clas­si­cal music lovers. We open our 2025 series with Elgar’s Romance for bas­soon and string quar­tet. This majes­tic dou­ble reed instru­ment is usu­al­ly tucked away in our wind sec­tion, but you will see it up close and per­son­al when our TSO Prin­ci­pal Bas­soon Tah­nee van Herk per­forms the solo. Our friend­ly ensem­ble will also play a string quar­tet from cel­e­brat­ed Aus­tralian com­pos­er Ele­na Kats-Chernin, and bas­soon once again steals the show in our local­ly arranged sonata by Saint-Saëns.
