Lake Pedder, in the heart of Tasmania’s wild south-west wilderness, combined with Lake Gordon it is Australia’s largest freshwater storage. These man-made lakes are separated by the Gordon Dam, an impressive structure, at 140m tall. We spend two night at Lake Pedder Wilderness Lodge, an old hydro town chalet restored to suit visitors looking for a remote escape. Weather permitting, we take the road out to Red Knoll Lookout to gain a panoramic view of Lake Pedder. Our 3 Day tour takes in many other sites and attractions along the way, touring Agrarian Kitchen gardens, visiting Mount Field National Park, and enjoy the short walk to Russell Falls, one of Tasmania’s most visited and accessible waterfalls. A fantastic and varied three-day tour for those who want to access some of Tasmania’s most scenic sights.
