This 8‑day tour explores the highlights of Adelaide with Murray River Princess Cruise. We arrive in Adelaide and enjoy a driving tour of the City of Churches and a visit to the Botanic Gardens.
We take in many of the local sights the following days before boarding the PS Murray Princess for our 4‑night Murray River Outback Heritage Cruise. This cruise highlights the history of the river and its operations, past and present, the wildlife and surrounding fauna while providing meals, entertainment and guided on shore walks throughout. Highlights include a visit to a vineyard and wine tasting at a cellar door, visit a typical Australian farm, woolshed and wildlife shelter, enjoy an Aussie barbecue beside the river and visit an aboriginal archaeological site.
On conclusion of the tour we make our way back to Adelaide, sampling the delights of the Barossa valley. We check in for our final night in Adelaide before flying home the following morning.

We collect our group and transfer to Launceston Airport to meet with the rest of the group and your
host who you will be spending the next 8 days with, we check in and board our flight. On arrival in Adelaide, we
meet with our coach and driver to make our way to the hotel for check in. We briefly refresh after our travel and
reconvene to tour briefing ahead of our welcome dinner
We check out of our accommodation and make our way to Mannum with a stop at Hahndorf along the way. A
charming town located in the Adelaide Hills region its history, picturesque setting, and preserved German heritage
make it a popular destination. We visit The Cedars, and step back in time to the 1920’s, enjoy a guided tour before
treating ourselves to high tea and exploring the gardens. We continue our travel and arrive for check in mid
afternoon and board the Murray Princess, setting sail from the historic Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River
trade and communication, and head upriver as we settle in and enjoy a cruise Welcome Dinner. As we cruise
under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Caurnamont, you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank
Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising upriver to Blanchetown through one of the 13 locks which maintain
the flow and levels of the rivers water. This afternoon we moor opposite to the township of Blanchetown for our
overnight anchorage. As the last rays of the sun fade, we visit Burk Salter Boutique Winery and enjoy wine tasting
at the cellar door which is fitted out with beautiful red gum bars. After dinner, join us all for the fun and excitement,
and participate in our “Murray River Cup”
After breakfast we cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach. The town was first settled in the 1850s, was
originally the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area and is now home to native flower and fruit
growers. The original Swan Reach homestead is now the Swan Reach Hotel where you can purchase an ale or
cappuccino to enjoy while overlooking the Murray River. Join a walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum
(gold coin donation at entry). Cruise downriver after lunch and take in the tranquility as the landscape slides by.
When we arrive at Sunnydale, it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australian woolshed
history. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals
are cared for. And then of course, there is the great Aussie Barbecue – cooked and served in a bush setting on the
banks of the mighty Murray River.
This morning you have the option of enjoying a Bush Tucker Breakfast, or bush walk with the captain, the vessel
cruises slowly downriver past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. We reach Ngaut Ngaut
Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a step back in time – tens of
thousands of years – for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about Aboriginal
history in the area. We will return to the vessel to cruise downriver to Younghusband. Along the way, adventure
seekers can also take a scenic tender boat ride. Tonight, join your fellow guests for a delicious final night dinner
and enjoy the evening entertainment.
We leave Younghusband and head back to Mannum and after breakfast, we reluctantly say farewell as we return
to Mannum Wharf. We then reunite with our Coach and continue our tour through the Barossa Valley. Here we
explore the region, known for its stunning vineyards, award-winning wineries and rich German heritage. We visit
the Anlaby Homestead, and heritage listed gardens, enjoying guided tour and a delicious lunch in the Clydesdale
Pavilion. After our Barossa experience we return to Adelaide where we will check into our hotel and enjoy a final
group dinner together.
We have a quick breakfast and early check out before making our way to Adelaide Airport for our flight home.
Arriving back to Launceston this morning and returning you home after 7 days of travelling and sailing with a
greater understanding of the history of Adelaide, South Australia & the Murray River.
